National Rent Growth Rate

Thanks to Jassen Bowman for sharing this chart with me. Get a shoutout when you share some amazing stuff with me too.

Article about rent growth rates with a breakdown by city (check your own local market out).

How Long For Real Estate Prices to Recover?

Bill McBride shares a great article about how long it may take for housing prices to recover based on historical data.

Investor Market Share

Some good stuff from Lon Welsh about percentages of the market purchased by type of investor.

Living Better Than Our Parents?

Good article comparing why we’re living way better than our parents. I’ve included a few charts from it but there are a lot more with commentary.

Wages and Rents Have Exceeded Inflation

“Hourly earnings of production and nonsupervisory employees” (aka wages) and Rents have grown at about the same rate since 1990 and they grew faster than inflation.

Cheaper and More Expenses

Some things have gotten cheaper (apparel, durable goods and, to a lesser degree, food at home) and some things have gotten more expensive (tuition and child care, medical care, energy and rents).

Hourly Earnings

Some data on wage growth growing faster than inflation.

Mortgage Interest Rates Down

These change throughout the day, so this could be out-of-date by the time you read it, but mortgage interest rates were down at the beginning of the week.

Housing Affordability

New Black Knight report is out and Bill McBride does a good job discussing some of the new charts.

Showings In Denver

Showings in Denver are down compared to last year.

Vacancy Rates

Bill McBride has some content about rents and vacancies.

Housing Data Tracking Spreadsheet

Special thanks to Jassen for sharing this spreadsheet that shows housing data.

Enjoy!
