Wages and Rents Have Exceeded Inflation
“Hourly earnings of production and nonsupervisory employees” (aka wages) and Rents have grown at about the same rate since 1990 and they grew faster than inflation.
Cheaper and More Expenses
Some things have gotten cheaper (apparel, durable goods and, to a lesser degree, food at home) and some things have gotten more expensive (tuition and child care, medical care, energy and rents).
