Real Estate Investor Weekly #51 - March 6, 2023
The best content this week for real estate investors from around the web.
Investors Buying Fewer SFH
Good article from Bill McBride about more than just this chart, but I found this chart to be super interesting as well.
Home Prices Still Up Year Over Year
Latest article from Bill McBride shows home prices still up year-over-year.
A Global Perspective on Rents Increasing
Rent increases are not a US phenomenon. Here’s an article and chart showing rents increasing in England.
Miscellaneous Charts
Thanks to Lon Welsh for sharing these with me.
Mortgage applications are down compared to the 9 years prior. Doesn’t surprise me with rates up a bit.
New single family home sales for January about the same as 2020? Well, that’s not horrible.
Mortgage interest rates up, but not as high as it was back in October.
New homes by the stage they were out when they sold. Slight uptick recently.
The supply of homes available for sale is up compared to the ridiculously low levels of the past 7 years.
The median (middle most price) of new home sales is down from a year ago. Could be (partly) composition… people buying less expensive homes now that rates are up.
Number of homes pending sale are higher than last month (thanks slightly lower interest rates in January), but lower than we’ve seen in the previous 7 years.
Pending home sales index down year-over-year from a crazy January last year. Not surprising.
Rent Growth
Great article about rent growth from Bill McBride with the latest numbers.
Inflation
Good chart of inflation from an email from Jesse at BestInterest.blog.
